Liposuction is a technique that is particularly indicated for people of normal weight who have localized areas of concentrated fat that are disproportionate to the rest of their body. These areas of higher fat concentration are frequently hereditary and very difficult to eliminate despite following an appropriate diet and exercise, which justifies the need to treat them with liposuction.

Although this procedure can be performed at any age, the best results are obtained in patients whose skin still has enough elasticity to readapt after the underlying fat is removed. If the skin lacks elasticity, as occurs in some elderly patients, it will need to be removed through additional incisions and complementary procedures such as brachioplasty, thigh lift or abdominoplasty.
